These floors are jam-packed with slimes, and floor 9 has a decent chance for a few crates and barrels in the upper-right corner. I think the bets choice for this is simply floors 5-9 in the upgraded mines. Therefore for finding auto-petters you want lots of slimes, and as many crates and barrels as possible. The best chance is the 2.2% chance for special items that you get from smashing open barrels and crates. Special drops in the mines happen from 0.2% of normal monsters, who look normal, and from 1.2% of slimes who have the little gold star on their antennae. It also is less dependent on one's luck score AND takes less real-world time since the Mines don't slow down time like the Skull Caverns do. The special drops have only a 2% chance of turning up an auto-petter there, but one can usually generate more special drops per day in the Mines than one can find treasure floors in the Skull Caverns. I think a slightly better way to get them is through special drops in the Mines with the Shrine of Challenge active. Even with luck maxed out by all legal processes, I still find it difficult to get more than 4 or 5 treasure floors per run at the skull caverns, and the auto-petter is just a 4% chance from each of those treasure floors. Nevertheless, the auto-petter is still quite rare. You can boost your chances by having a stack of staircases in your inventory that you can burn through, which means that you'll have a lot more chances to hit those treasure floors. You get a chance at a treasure floor each floor after floor 10, so only eat your lucky food then. Go on a day when your luck is at its highest and boost your luck as much as possible with buffs (lucky lunch is good but magic rock candy is better). On the other hand Stardew Valley's biggest failing might be that there's not much to pursue after a certain point, and the hard-to-find auto-petters are just about the only really good equipment that's also really rare to find.įor those trying to find them without the mod, you can try to find them in Skull Cavern treasure floors. That mod seems like a great idea and certainly there's nothing about the auto-petter that is game-breakingly awesome compared to any of the other stuff in the game. Return to that exact floor as many times as you can in a day. Find special slimes and kill them until you get an Auto-Petter. Use staircases to find infested slime floors in the updated hardcore mines. Sell jades to desert trader on Sundays in return for staircases. What I quickly discovered was that the desert trader will give 1 Staircase in return for 1 Jade every Sunday.I hope you've caught my drift. What's the strat, then?īy endgame, I had about 50 Crystalariums set up for Rubies that I would give to the desert trader for pretty much unlimited Spicy Eels. However, with finding an infested slime floor, your chances are much higher. And those Special Slimes are ridiculously rare. So.I have to find those Special Slimes to get an Auto-Petter? The infested floors spawn fairly often, and constantly reload every time you enter that exact floor an unlimited amount of times that same day. I've found most success of infested slime floors on the early floors of the hardcore mines (usually between floor 1-20 and 110-119). Special Slimes (those slimes with stars on their heads) are very rare, and can spawn in any mine - however, the Special Slimes found in the new hardcore mines have a small chance of dropping multiple rare items, one of them being the Auto-Petter.Īs you may know, there are sometimes 'infested' floors that plague the mines from time to time. The odds of finding this item otherwise are incredibly low, but fear not I've found what I find to be the best possible way to get multiples of this coveted item somewhat quickly! How do I get the Auto-Petter if I've gone the community centre route? It's purchasable for 50k, but only if you were evil enough to create the Joja Warehouse (shame on you). Like many people, I chose the Community Centre route (duh).Īn endgame item you may have heard about is the Auto-Petter, any barn or coop-lovers dream.
